ABOUT THE CHURCH & patron

St. Antony Church is a Catholic church in Ujire, within the Belthangady Varado of the Diocese of Mangalore, India.

As of October 2021, the parish had 261 families and 1097 members. The current church was built in 1969.

St. Anthony of Padua (born 1195, Lisbon, Portugal—died June 13, 1231, Arcella, Verona [Italy]; canonized 1232; feast day June 13) was a Franciscan friar and a dedicated patron of the poor. Portugal and the city of Padua, Italy, claim him as their patron saint, and he is invoked for the return of lost property. He is also the patron saint of sailors, fisherfolk, priests, and travelers. For his theological knowledge and missionary work, Anthony has been proclaimed a doctor of the church.

Parish Priest Message

Fr Abel Lobo

Parish Priest

It is with great pride and excitement that I am before you today to the launch of our new parish website. This digital platform represents a significant milestone in our collective journey as a faith community.

In an increasingly interconnected world, a vibrant online presence is essential for connecting with one another, sharing our stories, and extending the reach of our ministries. This new website is not merely a passive repository of information, but rather a dynamic hub that will keep us connected.

Through this website, we will be able to more effectively communicate parish announcements, event calendars, and faith-enriching resources. More importantly, this website will serve as a virtual gathering space where we can strengthen the bonds of our community, share in one another’s joys and sorrows, and lift each other up in prayer.

As we embark on this new digital chapter, let us remember that technology is merely a tool – one that must be wielded with wisdom, discernment, and a steadfast commitment

I encourage you to explore this new website, and most importantly, let it be a means by which we deepen our connection to one another and to our loving God.

May the Lord bless this parish website through the intercession of St Antony our patron, and may it bear abundant fruit in the life of our community. Together, let us continue to build the kingdom of God both in the physical and the digital realm.
